They can be a little tricky to pick up, but once you get it down it’s like the easiest thing ever. Here’s the first how-to I did on ‘em:

I may do another one soon though since there’s a second technique where you put ALL of the polish on the sponge in stripes and just roll that over your nail.
I usually take my original pictures at something like 2000px wide (if your camera has size settings, it’d be in the large-ish range), then trim then down to 700px wide to post on the site so that most of the picture is of the nails and not the messy yard. Most importantly you just need a camera with a decent lens/macro setting.
Stand in a cyclone! Ok wait, don’t do that, that’s dangerous and dumb (but I bet it’d be the fastest!). Quickest way is going to be picking up a bottle of quick dry drops (OPI has a good one).
Your best friend for this technique is going to be a bag full of makeup sponges — you can either add a secondary color to the tip of a sponge and blot it over the areas that you want to ombre, or you can apply both/all of your colors directly to the sponge and roll it over your nail a few times til it’s as opaque as you want.
I will if you will!!!! :) Thank you, fellow nerd!
Hahaha stalk away, I don’t do restraining orders! Thank you though, f’realz — it’s nice to know other people are enjoying my goofy little hobby too. :)
Aw shucks, thank you! It’s a lot of fun, isn’t it?! Keep on painting and experimenting with it — you never know what you’ll get, but it’ll always be worth it! :)
Shoot, sorry I’m just now seeing this… I had a few Christmas-themed nails by the time this was done, shoot me an email at nailme@nailnerd.com if you still need a step-by-step.
Thank you! He was my favorite one too.
I don’t sleep a whole bunch. :) There are also days where there are significant lags in my workflow as I’m waiting for feedback, so I’ll use that time to paint a little if it’s gross out/I need to stay near the computer.
Totally hand drawn — lady at the grocery store asked the same thing the other day, then yanked my hand over the register when I told her I’d painted them… it was cute.
Yep! With acrylic paint and a brush with two bristles for the outline and detail stuff. :)
You bet!
1. Thin coats
2. Blow on ‘em or set your hand under a lamp
3. Get some of those quick-dry drops, they definitely work
